Competitions are for single school grades e.g grade 1,2,3 etc (for primary and high school) if your team players are a mix of school grades then the team should enter the competition of the oldest school grade, for example a Team with a mix of players in school grade 4 and grade 5 means the team will have to enter the Grade 5 competition (even if only one player is of the older grade)

Please note it is the school grade the child is in and not the year they were born that we consider as their correct competition grade.

You may have Representative players in your Team but the following rules apply:

  • The total number of Rep players in a Team is 2
  • If a team wishes to play with 3 Rep players they will need to enter the competition 1 school grade higher
  • If a team wishes to play with 4 or more Rep players they will need to enter the competition 2 school grades higher.
    • Example 1: A Team of grade 4 players enters the Grade 4 competition , they have 2 Rep players- This is the correct competition for them (No other rep players of any grade allowed)
    • Example 2: A Team of grade 4 players would like to enter, they have 3 Rep players therefore will need to enter the grade 5 Competition(No other Rep players of any grade allowed)
    • Example 3: A Team of grade 4 players would like to enter, they have 4 Rep players therefore they will need to enter the grade 6 Competition.
  • If the Representative player on your team is unable to play, you cannot use another Representative player from other teams as a substitute

When the rep players in the team are of different school grades we apply a point system with the total points allowed for a team = 6. All rep players are considered as equal for this system however we will place a team in an appropriate division taking into consideration the level of the rep players and the competition that they have entered.

rep player playing in their school grade = 3 points

rep player playing up one school grade = 2 points

rep player playing up two school grades= 1 point

development player playing in their school grade = 1.5 points

development player playing up one school grade = 1 point

development player playing up 2 grades is not counted in the calculation.

Individual Player Registration with BNSW
  • There is a minimum number of 6 players and a maximum of 9 players per team for the season
  • All changes to team lists must come through the office by email:
    • If you have less than 5 players for a game you may request a substitute player from a lower division by emailing us 24 hours prior to your game. Please provide us with the player’s full name, team they are currently playing in and current grade at school.  This will enable us to verify elibigility of the substitute player and allow staff to update score sheets and tablets for all venues.
    • Substitute player must ensure their name is written in full (as well as their jersey number) on the scoresheet if their name does not appear on Courtside prior to a game
    • If a player is leaving your team you must inform the office by email as soon as possible. You cannot add a substitute or permanent team member during the season without informing us
  • Please note that your game may be forfeited:
    • if a player plays/signs on under another person’s name
    • if a player plays whilst unregistered
    • if a team has used a substitute player without prior notification to the office
    • if a team uses a player from the same or higher division

We are currently implementing the use of Courtside scoring (ipads) for all our competitions. . We need to have Team lists and Jersey numbers emailed to us so your Team can be uploaded for the game.

  • Please ensure any substitute player writes their name in full and their jersey number on the paper scoresheet
  • We can not add Players at the time of or during the evening of the game. Any changes to your team list must be provided to the office 24 hours prior to your game
  • Players whose registration has expired will have (U) unregistered showing under their name. This will need to be renewed prior to playing and will be checked by court supervisors. You should receive a courtesy email from BNSW a month prior to your registration expiring.
  • Individual player stats cannot be changed after the game
