We invite schools in the Hornsby region to participate in a Basketball Gala Day.
These days are for everyone to play basketball games in a friendly atmosphere, where results are not the priority, but entire team involvement being the ultimate fun. This is also an opportunity for some of your newer students to basketball to “have a go” and enjoy the fun of playing with their friends against children from other schools.
Travel is minimized as all games are played at the Brickpit Sports Stadium in Thornleigh which is a fantastic indoor venue central to all schools involved with the possibility of sharing transport means.
(1) Teams are composed of players from stage 2 and stage 3 students two years group – i.e. separate boys teams and separate girls teams
(2*) Schools can enter up to a maximum of 2 teams in each division on a gala day
(3*) Teams will be accepted on a first in basis only, so book in early to avoid disappointment
(4*) Advise us (via email at: Michael.Dagostino@hornsbyspiders.com.au) of the teams you wish to enter, and the day you wish to play (please nominate your first preference and second preference)
Due the popularity of these gala days we try to accommodate everyone, however we are limited to how many teams we can schedule on each day in consideration of court availability and that some schools need their teams to finish at earlier times to be returned to school/home
The days games will start at 8:45am and go through to 2:45pm, with each team being scheduled to play four 18 minute games. The cost to play is just $14.00 per student, and all officials are provided by our Association. For “bench duty” each team needs to provide a person to complete either the scoresheet or operate the scoring console (the easiest way to organise this is to assign your students – e.g. boys teams complete duty whilst girls teams are playing and vice versa).
To participate in Gala Days or for further information contact Michael D’Agostino at Hornsby Ku-Ring-Gai Basketball Association. 2024 Gala Day dates will be listed in late December.
