We invite schools from the Hornsby region to participate in our annual Basketball Gala Days.
We hold two basketball gala days each year, with these days held on the Tuesday of the second week and the Wednesday of the third week of November. Typically, we have between four and five schools participating in each day, with five to eight teams competing in each of the following divisions:
- Year 3/4 Girls
- Year 5/6 Girls
- Year 3/4 Boys
- Year 5/6 Boys
Games are scheduled throughout the day in 20-minute timeslots, with each team playing four 18-minute games against teams from other schools. There are no finals, as our gala days are focused on participation, enjoyment, and providing students with the opportunity to play, cheer on their teammates, and support all students representing their school.
Parking is free and undercover beneath the stadium, and the kiosk will be open throughout the day for students to purchase food and drinks.
We provide the courts, officials, administration, and game management. The cost is just $14.00 per student, and your school’s accounts department will be provided with an invoice for payment following the gala day.
For each game, every team is required to provide one person to either complete the scoresheet or operate the scoring console. The easiest way to manage this is to have your boys’ teams complete these duties while the girls are playing, and vice versa.
We provide schools with the draw approximately 3 to 4 weeks before the gala day, depending on how quickly the remaining team places are filled. As places are limited and these gala days are very popular, we encourage you to let us know your preferred divisions and the number of teams you would like to enter as soon as possible so we can confirm places for your school’s students.
