With the Paris Paralympic Games coming to a close, our eyes look to the horizon with LA in 2028 and Brisbane in a short eight years’ time. Paralympic Australia have launched a Start Line campaign featuring NSW wheelchair basketball players SPP athlete Zara Campion, 6 x Paralympian Tristan Knowles and 3 x Paralympian Grant Mizens.
Wheelchair Basketball State Performance Program trials is the first step for young athletes in our community to begin their para sport journey in wheelchair basketball. One of the barriers for accessing wheelchair basketball is the knowledge that it is a sport option. The attached flyer provides a visual representation of athletes that were in the 2023/24 program plus written examples of lower limb limitations that may be eligible for representative play (for NSW and for Australia).
On 21 September we will kick off our second year of the Wheelchair State Performance Program. SPP serves to identify, develop, and foster the skills of young athletes with classifiable limitations who aspire to compete at state, national and international levels of wheelchair basketball.
